After it crossed the Rs 150 crore mark worldwide and the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide in just two days, it has been established that "Peddi" is Ram Charan's highest-grossing solo opener. With the India net total nearing 100 crore (expected to cross it by June 6, Saturday), the big-budget film's overseas gross stands at Rs 36 crore so far.
According to Sacnilk figures, the Telugu-language sports drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana has done way better than the actor's previous movie, "Game Changer" (directed by Shankar) in two days. It is now on track to surpass both the domestic net and worldwide figures of "Rangasthalam".
"Rangasthalam" currently remains Ram Charan's highest-grossing solo film to date (over Rs 216 crore globally). With "Peddi" crossing Rs 150 crore in two days, box office trackers expect it to dethrone "Rangasthalam" within the first week itself. However, it remains to be seen if "Peddi" can reach the massive Rs 1,230 crore global benchmark set by "RRR". But this two-day performance alone proves that Ram Charan's individual star power can pull a Rs 100+ crore opening day without a multi-starrer setup or a boost from a big-time directorial brand like SS Rajamouli.
Worldwide, "Peddi" has secured the slot as the second-highest worldwide opener of Ram Charan’s career and his highest-ever solo opening.
If we are to compare the recent Telugu-language blockbusters of Ram Charan's contemporaries, though, "Peddi" is not operating at the sheer global scale of Allu Arjun’s "Pushpa 2" or Prabhas's "Kalki 2898 AD". Those films broke out significantly in non-traditional overseas territories and had massive top-notch momentum.
Even other grounded action movies like Jr. NTR's "Devara - Part 1" and Prabhas's "Salaar - Part 1" easily attained the Rs 50+ crore milestone overseas in their opening 48 hours, keeping them a step ahead of "Peddi".
