The makers of Adipurush, on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on Saturday, shared new motion posters of the film featuring actor Prabhas as Lord Ram. Released in five languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada—the posters were complemented by an audio clip of 'Jai Shri Ram'.

Directed by Om Raut, the mythological drama is an adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana. The film is set for its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. Described as an 'epic saga of courage and devotion', the film also features Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon in pivotal roles.

The film was initially scheduled to release in August last year, but the release was further pushed after its teaser was trolled for 'low quality' visual effects. The film also triggered backlash over the depiction of Hindu deities. The makers were also slammed for the apparent Islamisation of demon king Lankesh, played by Saif.

Speaking about the period drama, Raut had said in an earlier media statement, “Adipurush is not a film, but a representation of our devotion to Prabhu Sri Ram and commitment towards our sanskriti and history. In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film. Adipurush will now release on June 16, 2023.”

Raut made his directorial debut with Ajay Devgn-starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior in 2020.
