After television actress Tunisha Sharma committed suicide on the set of a serial in Vasai in Maharashtra on Saturday, the police arrested her co-actor Sheezan Mohammad Khan on the charges of abetment to suicide.
He was produced in the Vasai court on Sunday morning which sent him to four-day police custody. "Police don't have any evidence as of yet. Allegations are put against him. Further probe is yet to be conducted," Khan's lawyer was quoted by ANI.
Though Khan's sister accompanied his lawyer to the Waliv Police Station, she did not speak to the media.
According to reports, Tunisha’s mother had blamed Khan, her Ali Baba co-star, for her daughter's death. They were in a relationship but had broken up recently. Both were starring together in the show Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul', at the sets of which she was found hanging.
Sharma reportedly went to the washroom on the set and did not return for a long time. When the door was broken down, she was found hanging inside.
"There is a Ramdev Studio in Naigaon where the shoot was on. Then there was a break between the shots when this actress went to the bathroom and then she hung herself there," a senior police official was quoted by The Times of India.
Meanwhile, police sources said they were interrogating everyone present on the set. Officers will investigate the matter from all possible angles since no suicide note has been found. Her cell phone has been taken into custody by the cops.
Sharma's remains have been taken to the Nalasopra Hospital for post-mortem.
The actress had earlier been open about her fight with depression and anxiety. In an earlier interview, she had mentioned how her co-star Kanwar Dhillon had stood by her during her bad times. "I am proud of myself that I have fought the battle with a positive attitude and will get back to work soon," she added.
The actor who made her acting debut with 'Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap' as a child actor had also worked in shows like 'Ishq Subhan Allah', 'Gabbar Poonchwala’, 'Sher-e-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh,' and 'Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.'
The actor also appeared in Bollywood movies including 'Fitoor', 'Baar Baar Dekho,’ 'Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh,' and Dabangg 3.
