Maharashtra govt tightens Salman Khan's security after threat letter

Maharashtra Home Department has strengthened actor Salman Khan’s security after an anonymous threat letter was sent to him and his father Salim Khan on Sunday. Mumbai police had also filed a FIR in the case, and probe is under way.

On early Sunday morning, Salim Khan was sitting on a bench at the Bandra Bandstand, which is his routine, after a morning walk when an unidentified man handed him a letter which mentioned a threat to kill Salim and Salman, according to reports. The letter referred to Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala who was shot dead recently, Times of India reported. “Tumhara Moose Wala kar denge," the letter read.

Moosewala was shot dead recently allegedly my members of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in prison, is part of the Bishnoi community that revers black bucks. The gangster has held grudge towards Salman since the actor killed two black bucks in Jodhpur in 1998.

In August 2020, Mumbai police had arrested sharpshooter of Bishnoi gang who allegedly had plans to murder Salman. According to police, the sharpshooter had already conducted a recce in Mumbai on Bishnoi’s directions earlier that year.
