Streaming platforms are gearing up for the upcoming festive weeks with interesting releases. Even big budget movies that released theatrically in recent weeks will drop on OTT platforms in the coming days.

Kurup: Netflix

Release date: Dec 15

Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup, which released in theatres in November, started streaming on Netflix on Wednesday. The film was set to stream on December 17, but the platform advanced its release. Kurup is a biographical crime-thriller based on the life of Kerala’s most wanted fugitive Sukumara Kurup, who has been on run since the mid 1980’s. The film also features Indrajith Sukumaran, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sunny Wayne, Bharat Srinivasan, Shine Tom Chacko, Surabhi Lakshmi and Vijayaraghavan Pillai.

Decoupled: Netflix

Release date: Dec 17

The comedy series features R. Madhavan and Surveen Chawla as a couple who are wrestling with the question of whether they should split up or not. Set in Gurgaon, the series, produced by Bombay Fables and Andolan Films, is created by Manu Joseph and directed by Hardik Mehta. Madhavan had said his character suffers with "a rather uncompromised sense of objectivity and clarity", which is hilarious especially when pitted against his calm and composed wife Shruti, played by Surveen.

Marakkar - Arabikadalinte Simham: Amazon Prime Video

Release date: December 17

The highly anticipated Mohanlal-starrer released in theatres earlier this month after being delayed multiple times amid the pandemic. Written and directed by Priyadarshan, the film features an ensemble cast with Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Nedumudi Venu, and Pranav Mohanlal in pivotal roles. Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, made on a budget of Rs 100 crore and directed by Priyadarshan, follows the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV, who was the naval chief of the Zamorin of Calicut. The period drama won three National Awards, including Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects and Best Costume Design.

The Witcher season 2: Netflix

Release date: December 17

The popular show follows the journey of Geralt of Rivia played by Henry Cavill which is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher books. It is the story of the intertwined destinies of three individuals in the vast world of The Continent, where humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters battle to survive and thrive, and where good and evil is not easily identified. Cavill leads the cast, alongside Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri.
