Two-time National Award-winning actress Konkona Sen Sharma has added another feather to her cap with the 2021 Asian Academy Creative Award for best actress in a leading role.

The 42-year-old actress received this recognition for essaying the role of Bharti Mandal in her Netflix anthology film Ajeeb Daastaans: Geeli Pucchi. Konkona’s portrayal of an assembly-line worker in a chemical factory who is treated like ‘trash’ for not fitting the standards of a ‘conventional woman’ was lauded by many. The anthology also featured Aditi Rao Hydari as Priya who has a sense of disassociation as she lives with her in-laws.

The award came on her 42nd birthday and looks like a perfect gift for the Wake Up Sid actress.

Proud mother Aparna Sen tweeted: “Congratulations to my lovely, talented daughter for winning Best Asian Actress at the Asian Academy Awards! That too on your birthday! So, so proud of you, Coco-ma!”

Other than Konkona, five other Indian shows/films won awards:
