Rajinikanth contributes Rs 50 lakh to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to fight COVID-19

He urged people to follow government guidelines and stay safe

Superstar Rajinikanth met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and donated Rs 50 lakhs to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to battle the second wave of COVID-19.

Addressing reporters, he said that people should follow government guidelines to fight the pandemic. “People should follow, whatever the rules and regulations are given by the government to overcome the coronavirus pandemic," said Rajinikanth.

Stalin had urged celebrities to donate and support the state’s fight against the pandemic. Responding to the CM’s appeal, Ajith also recently contributed Rs 25 lakh to the chief minister’s fund. Tamil actor Sivakumar and his sons Suriya and Karthi had also met Stalin recently to donate Rs 1 crore.

           

Kollywood has lost a few eminent artists to COVID-19 recently. Actor Nitish Veera who had acted in films like PudhupettaiVennila Kabadi KuzhuAsuranKaala, and Raatchasi passed away due to COVID-19 complications on Monday. Director Thamira, cinematographer KV Anand and actor Pandu succumbed to the virus in the last few weeks. Singer and actor MJC Comagan, best known for his appearance in film Autograph, also passed away recently due to COVID-19 complications.
