Actress Ahaana Krishna has reacted to the controversy and allegations surrounding her and Prithviraj-starrer Bhramam. Taking to social media, the actress distanced herself from allegations that she was dropped from the film's cast due to political differences.

Ahaana’s father and actor Krishna Kumar, who recently joined the BJP, had recently alleged that his daughter was removed from the cast of due to his links with the national party. “Just keep me away from it (news). I am not even in the picture, I have not blamed anyone. Some who spoke might be related to me, but it is always another person’s opinion. Don’t count me in. I have nothing to do with this drama,” Ahaana said on Instagram on Tuesday, the News Minute reported. She added that such things are part of the profession and that she had huge respect for Prithviraj.

Amid the allegations, Open Book Productions which is bankrolling Bhramam, issued a statement. “It has come to our notice through the media that Ahaana was removed from some movies based on political stands. If the allegation has meant Bhramam which is produced by Open Book Productions, we strongly disagree with this,” a statement read. The production company said that Ahaana was not found to be apt for the character after she appeared for a costume and camera test, and that she was informed the matter in a professional manner.

“It is true that we did consider Ahaana but then we have emphatically informed her that the final decision will be after a costume trial and look-test. We had forbid her from telling anyone she is in the film till we officially announce, even if we paid her an advance. But then mysteriously there were news articles stating Ahaana was the heroine which we were neither aware nor was from our side. Unfortunately, the camera test was getting delayed as she was working in another film and later she got infected with Covid 19. Eventually, when we did the photo shoot our Director/DOP/Writer felt she won’t fit the character which we communicated to her and even apologized for the inconvenience and assured her we would work together again. All these facts were conveyed to her at all times and Ms. Ahaana Krishna personally is aware of all this and we are sure won’t blame us for there being any politics in this (sic),” the statement read.

Bhramam is the remake of Bollywood film Andhadhun.
