Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case has taken a fresh turn with his father K.K. Singh filing a complaint against actress Rhea Chakraborty in Patna, based on which an FIR was lodged. After Rhea filed a petition in the Supreme Court to transfer the FIR to Mumbai, Sushant’s family, on Thursday, filed a caveat in the apex court.

On July 25, the FIR was lodged with Rajiv Nagar police station under various sections of IPC including 306 (abetment of suicide), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).

What are the charges against Rhea

The FIR names Rhea, along with five others, and blames them for exploiting Sushant and pushing him to take an extreme step. “Almost 40 days have passed since my son died, but the Mumbai Police are yet to begin an investigation against the prime accused,” Singh stated in his written complaint, based on which the FIR was registered.

In his complaint, Sushant's father said, "While my son was doing extremely well in Bollywood till May 2019, a girl named Rhea Chakraborty and her family members and others got in touch with him so that she could use his contacts to make a career in the film industry."

He alleged that Rhea and her family forced Sushant to move out of the house he was staying at that point of time, alleging paranormal activity in the house.

In the complaint, Singh claimed that the actor had faced no mental health issues till he was associated with Rhea in 2019. Sushant’s family also raised a finger at mental health professionals whom Sushant consulted, and demanded that their connection with Rhea be probed. If Rhea knew of Sushant’s mental health condition, the family questioned why she walked out on him, blocked his number and also took away the documents about his treatment. Singh also questioned why consent of family members was not sought for his son's treatment if he was suffering from some mental illness, as claimed.

He has also mentioned in the FIR that Rs 15 crore was transferred from Sushant's bank account to a few other bank accounts, which were not linked with the late actor in any way.

Sushant's father also alleged that Rhea stopped Sushant from going to Coorg to do organic farming.

In his complaint, Singh wrote that while he and other family members tried to reach out to Sushant several times, Rhea did not let them contact the late actor, and also did not allow him to come to Patna. Singh added that Rhea also got Sushant to change his mobile number and got him a new number registered under the name Samuel Miranda.

He even accused Rhea of stealing Sushant's laptop, cash, jewellery, credit cards with PIN numbers and threatening the late actor of making his medical reports public and sabotaging his career. He said that after Rhea left the flat with his belongings, Sushant called up his sister and said that the actress would trap him. He also feared that he would be admitted into a mental asylum. Singh also added that Sushant was worried he would be framed in the death of his former manager Disha Salian who died by suicide a few days before Sushant took the extreme step.

The case is currently being probed by the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has ruled out CBI probe. BSP President Mayawati on Thursday said the  death case was getting "murkier" by the day, and favoured a CBI probe into the matter to ensure justice for the bereaved family.

Sushant's death on June 14 has also triggered a debate on nepotism and favouritism in the Hindi film industry. Mumbai Police has questioned several Bollywood bigwigs including filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Rhea has also recorded her statement.
