Netflix series Money Heist has been on the trending list many times and is one of the most loved shows on the streaming platform. The Spanish series was trending on Twitter again on Friday after its director Alex Rodrigo picked his choice of actors if he were to create an Indian version of the show.

In an interview to entertainment portal Behind Woods, Rodrigo said Tamil actor Vijay seemed best to play the Professor. Choosing from pictures of popular stars, he picked Tamil actor Ajith Kumar to play Bogota and said Shah Rukh Khan would fit the bill for Berlin. He picked Ranveer Singh and Mahesh Babu as Denver and Tamayo respectively and Suriya as Suarez.

Recently, Ayushmann Khuranna had posted a video of himself, sporting a pair of spectacles, and playing the piano version of Bella Ciao from the show. He had expressed interest to essay the role of Professor if ever there was an Indian version. The video was shown to Rodrigo and he seemed impressed with Khurrana’s appearance for the role.

Sharing the video on Instagram, Ayushmann wrote, “I want to be the professor. That’s why I’m wearing similar glasses and playing Bella Ciao. I want to put this out in the universe. Hello reverent filmmakers, are you on ? Please! I’m dying to do something like this. I’m itching to go on sets and work, like each and every human on this planet. We all want to go out and work. But patience is a virtue they say. Till then Bella Ciao. #MoneyHeist.”

Excited fans of actor Vijay have been taking to social media to express their joy and comment on how the actor fits the role.

In the hugely popular series, a criminal mastermind who goes by "The Professor" has a plan to pull off the biggest heist in recorded history — to print billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain. The first episode was out in 2017. After releasing season 4 recently, Netflix is in the process of creating the next season, according to reports.
