Coming out in defence of her sister Rangoli Chandel whose Twitter handle was suspended recently after she called for shooting dead "mullas and secular media", Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut claimed that her sister's statement was misinterpreted.

In a video that is posted on Instagram, the actor claimed that her sister only said those attacking police and doctors should be shot dead and added that the statement was not directed at the entire Muslim community.

In tweet that was widely criticised, Rangoli had said that "police and doctors went to check their families (of COVID-19 patients) they were attacked and killed... make these mullas + secular medias stand in a line and shoot them dead... they call us Nazis... who cares, life is more imp than fake image".

Kangana said a few people like Farah Khan Ali and Reema Kagti misquoted Rangoli and said the latter advocated genocide. The actor said both she and her sister would tender apology if there is any tweet in which her sister called for Muslim genocide.

She said they were not claiming that every Muslim is attacking the cops or doctors. Further, she made an appeal to the Centre to ban platforms like Twitter in which people get away with calling the prime minister, home minister and the RSS “terrorists” but where real terrorists cannot be called out.

“We have to find a way to completely demolish platforms like this and start our own platforms,” she said.

Further, the actor also defended wrestler and BJP politician Babita Phogat who held Tablighi Jamaatis responsible for the spread of COVID-19 in the country, saying the government should offer her protection and those trolling Phogat on social media should be punished.

She ended her video saying, “Happy lockdown.”
