The reports that the sequel to Kollywood gangster saga Vada Chennai has been shelved did certainly make fans of Dhanush, who were eagerly waiting for the second part of the movie, upset.

According to a DTNext report, the movie had to be shelved as residents of North Chennai—the area shown prominently in the movie — had reservations about the way their lifestyles were portrayed in the movie. The difficulty of picking a location, combined with the busy schedule of some of the film’s artists, had resulted in the movie being suspended temporarily, reports had claimed.

However, Dhanush took to social media to clarify that there is no such plan to shelve the movie and asked his fans to not believe in such reports unless he gives an official confirmation about the film. “Don’t know what caused this confusion among my fans. Vadachennai part 2 is very much on , Unless you see any official confirmation from my Twitter handle please do not believe in rumours regarding any project of mine. Thank you. Love you,” the actor tweeted.

Directed by Vetrimaaran, the first part of Vada Chennai had Dhanush, Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh and Ameer in the lead. The film had received positive response from critics and movie goers alike.
