The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Rising Star Corps, Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat, on Wednesday reviewed the operational preparedness of the troops in Jammu and Kashmir's Machhedi sector of Kathua district. "GOC Rising Star Corps reviewed the operational preparedness of troops in the Bani-Machhedi sector (Kathua district)," the Defence PRO, Jammu, said on X.

The GOC lauded their battle readiness, high morale, and steadfast commitment to mission success under all conditions.

To prevent infiltration, the Army deployed several companies in the high-altitude Bani-Machhedi area last year.

The Bani-Machhedi mountainous belt in Kathua district has witnessed several attacks and encounters in the last two years. It is considered an infiltration route to the Doda, Kishtwar, and Udhampur districts from the International Border.

On Tuesday, a senior army officer reviewed operational preparedness along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu's Akhnoor sector, news agency PTI reported. The operational preparedness was reviewed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lt Gen P.K. Mishra, who, along with the GOC of the Crossed Swords Division, visited forward areas of the Akhnoor sector, the Army said.

"He (Lt Gen Mishra) interacted with troops deployed on the LoC and was briefed on measures undertaken to strengthen defences and enhance operational effectiveness," the Army's White Knight Corps said in a post on X.

It said the GOC commended all ranks for their high morale, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to duty.

The visit of the Army officer to the Akhnoor sector comes a week after the Army foiled an infiltration bid in the nearby Nowshera sector and killed a Pakistani terrorist.
