Investors seem to have found fertile ground in Odisha as The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, approved 14 investment proposals worth ₹2,780 crore on Friday. Officials claim the new opportunities will create employment for over 14,104 people.

The projects span across the textile, agro, food processing, chemical products, medical devices, pharma, steel, iron, and steel downstream manufacturing industries. The new units will be established in Angul, Bolangir, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Sundergarh.

Haldiram Snacks, India’s largest snack company, proposed the largest investment of ₹500 crore and plans to set up a snacks and baked products manufacturing unit in Khurda and Cuttack. It is expected to generate employment potential for 800 people.

Other big investments include the ₹450 crore phosphorus-based derivatives manufacturing by Prasol Chemicals, and ₹405 crore from Mahanadi Coalfields to complete the development of a private railway siding in Angul district. Syrma SGS Technology is to invest ₹300 crore for a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly and box-building manufacturing facility in Khurda.

In the textile industry, Sahana Clothing Company and Pratima Agro Mill have proposed investments of ₹251 crore and ₹125 crore each. Sahana, which manufacturers garments for several international brands, has also proposed the biggest employment commitment among the approved projects, with an expectation to create 5,104 jobs. The company will focus on a readymade garment unit for knitted baby and kidswear in Dehnkanal, while Pratima will focus on a textile processing unit in Balangir.

The other proposals include Mahatripurasundari Minerals & Metals, New Generation Manufacturing, Haasvan Rasayan, Sastasundar Healthbuddy, Premium Chick Feeds, and Tiwana Nutrition Global. 

Apart from the approved projects, Saatvik Solar Industries signed an initial pact with the Industrial Promotion, and Investment Corporation of Odisha Ltd (IPICOL) on Monday. The company aims to set up a 3.6GW Solar Cell Manufacturing facility in Gopalpur. Anil Balaji Steel also announced plans to establish a presence in Odisha by 2030.
