The National Testing Agency released the results of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2019, the national level entrance examination for admission to various MBBS and BDS colleges across the country, on Wednesday.

This year, Nalin Khandelwal from Jaipur secured the top rank, scoring 701 out of 720.

The NEET is conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in medical and dental colleges approved by the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council of India. Admission to all the MBBS and BDS courses, except JIPMER and AIIMS, will be done via this rank list.

Check the application process for various NEET 2019 seats:

1. All India Quota (AIQ)

Registrations to the 15 per cent of All India Quota for all the government medical and dental colleges in India (except Jammu and Kashmir) will start soon. Allotment will start after receiving the options on the website www.mcc.nic.in. To apply for the AIQ counselling, it is necessary for candidates to fill the application form for AIQ counselling when its released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).

2. Seats at deemed and central universities

DGHS is the counselling authority for deemed and central universities, similar to AIQ. All seats of the central and deemed universities are also open to candidates who qualified NEET 2019. Central universities include Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU). To apply for these, it is necessary to fill a separate form for the central and deemed universities counselling, when it is released by the DGHS.

3. State quota seats

The state quota seats make up 85 per cent of the allocations, and is meant for the domicile candidates of each state. It is mandatory for candidates to fill an application form to apply for the state quota seats in their respective state government colleges, when it is released by the state government authorities.

4. Private college seats

All students who have qualified NEET 2019 are eligible to apply for all private colleges across the country, irrespective of the domicile category. Candidates must fill out application forms of the respective state counselling authorities.

The eligibility for qualifying NEET is a minimum of 50 per cent for the general category, 40 per cent for the reserved seats of OBC and Scheduled Castes, and 45 per cent for the specially abled.

The admission to seats for MBBS and BDS, except the 15 per cent, and other courses such as BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homeopathy) and the degree courses of veterinary, fisheries, forestry etc. is also done through the NEET rank.

Many colleges in India offer MBBS and BDS education with a low fee structure. Colleges under the Delhi University such as Maulana Azad and Lady Hardinge are a few examples. The yearly fee of Maulana Azad is Rs 1,355. However, these colleges are only meant for people who secure the top ranks.
