A techie in Bengaluru has attacked her husband with a kitchen knife and left his fingers bleeding for checking her phone messages.

The incident took place on May 4 at their apartment in Kaikondanahalli near HSR Layout. However, it came to light only recently when her husband sought police protection from his wife.

Sunitha Singh and Chandraprakash Singh, both from Bihar, moved to Bengaluru three years ago. They were working for two different IT companies.

Sunitha quit her job recently and was on a break. However, according to Chandraprakash, she was always busy with her phone and showed little care for the family. Her behavior led to frequent quarrels between them. When he checked her mobile phone, he allegedly saw some 'vulgar text' messages.

Chandraprakash confronted Sunitha about the text messages and asked her the details as to whom she was sending those messages. However, Sunitha refused to divulge details, leading to a fisticuffs between them.

In the heat of the moment, Sunitha, after allegedly being roughed up, took a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband causing severe injuries to his fingers. Chandraprakash was later taken to a private hospital by his neighbours, who were alerted by the commotion and came to his rescue.

Chandraprakash had suffered three broken fingers and underwent a surgery, said reports.

After being discharged from the hospital, he approached HSR Layout police station and requested round-the-clock protection from his wife of seven years. The police are yet to decide on his protection request.

Sunitha, meanwhile, has filed a counter-complaint against Chandraprakash accusing him of domestic violence.

The police are looking into both complaints. In the meantime, they have also summoned their parents to discuss and deescalate the situation.
