A defence security official was found dead with bullet injuries at the naval base in Kochi on Monday. Sources said the deceased was identified as Defence Security Corps (DSC) jawan Naik K. Sivadasan, a native of Thrissur, who is survived by his wife and two daughters.
It is not immediately known whether the firing incident was accidental or an attack. According to reports, a bullet sound was heared around 1.30 am. The case is being investigated by the harbour terminus police station. Navy has also launched a probe into the incident.
Sivadasan's body has been shifted to Alappuzha medical college after an inquest.
