Hindu Jagran Manch, a right wing Hindutva group, has issued a warning to Christian schools in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh against celebrating Christmas as the forum claims that such celebrations may attract Hindus students to Christianity.

According to media reports, Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM), which is affiliated to the Vishva Hindu Parishad, has said celebrating Christmas in schools can affect the mentality of Hindu students.

Sonu Savita, city president of Hindu Jagran Manch, said in an interview that students in Christian schools are asked to bring gifts for the celebration of Christmas and claimed that this is a way to lure students to the religion.

Another HJM functionary, Sanju Bajaj, threatened to hold protests outside schools if they decide to pay no heed to the outfit's diktat and celebrate Christmas, according to media reports.

Aligarh police, however, said they have no reports or complaints about such a threat issued to schools.

The threat comes merely days after thirty carol singers and two priests from the Saint Ephrem's Theological College in Satna in eastern Madhya Pradesh were detained by police on charges of forced religious conversion.

Hindu Jagran Manch focuses on activism against religious conversion and works for the reconversion of Muslims and Christians to Hinduism.
