A police officer in Kerala was suspended on Tuesday for allegedly making defamatory comment against Malayalam actor Manju Warrier on Facebook.
Reports said K.M. Renjumon, a civil police officer with the Armed Reserve Camp in Ernakulam had posted a photograph of Manju standing along with Suraj Venjaramoodu, another prominent actor, and made a lewd comment along with it. As the post went viral, the actor filed a complaint with the police.
The incident happened just a day after the state DGP asked the police officers to be cautious while using social networking sites.
Meanwhile, Manju said her police complaint was a protest against the harassment against women on social websites. She said she used to get a lot of defamatory comments on her Facebook page, but this time she protested as it was from a responsible police officer.
