A cafe in Melbourne announced that they were introducing an 18 per cent surcharge on their male customers to address the issue of the gender pay gap. According to the house rules in the cafe, women will get priority seating.
As one would expect, Twitter reactions flew in thick and fast. Some supported the move, calling it 'progressive', while others attacked it. The discussion even veered off into justifications for the wage gap between men and women.
Thinking locally for a moment, what an interesting initiative at a new Melbourne cafe. 🤔☕️ It is great the extra... https://t.co/4KKbkxpg3z

Cool, can't wait to see that end well.
Vegan cafe in Melbourne has 18% tax on male clients. Flames! I say picket the place, prevent access. After all, that's what we men do best.

Not a fan. Whilst appreciate highlighting the issue of pay, creating an us and them is divisive. Flip this, and Twitter is in flames.

Feminism- Once a vitally important civil rights movement. Now a myth filled ideology of hyperbole, resentment & man hating. Sad
