Shillong, Nov 4 (PTI) Newly inducted minister Paul Lyngdoh has been allocated the tourism, social welfare and arts and culture portfolios as the Meghalaya government ordered a reshuffle of departments among three cabinet ministers, officials said on Wednesday.
The notification was issued by the personnel department following an order by the governor on the advice of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, with immediate effect, they said.
Under the revised allocation, Timothy D Shira has been given charge of agriculture and farmers welfare, power and water resources departments.
Lyngdoh, who was sworn in as a cabinet minister on Monday, switched allegiance from his parent United Democratic Party to the ruling National People's Party last week along with two other party colleagues, leaving the UDP with just one MLA.
Eight other UDP MLAs joined the BJP last month.
Senior BJP leader and Laban MLA Sanbor Shullai has been allocated Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fisheries, Taxation, Legal Metrology, and Printing and Stationery departments.
