Jaipur, Nov 4 (PTI) A Jaipur-based confectionery outlet has introduced a gold coin-shaped sweet priced at Rs 1,111 for a 9-gram piece, equivalent to around Rs 1.23 lakh per kg, giving traditional Diwali gifting a luxury twist.

Called ‘Tyohar Asharfi’, the sweet has an almond-based core infused with edible gold (swarn bhasm) and is finished with a layer of gold leaf and saffron. It is also available in a box of nine pieces priced at Rs 9,999.

“We wanted to recreate the traditional asharfi, associated with the era of kings and maharajas, in an edible form,” said CA Anjali Jain, founder of Tyohar Outlet.

The price of Rs 1,111 per piece was chosen for its auspicious significance, she said, adding that the product was conceived as a luxury Diwali gift symbolising prosperity and peace.

The outlet has also introduced ‘Tyohar Navratna’, a collection of nine varieties of kaju katli inspired by traditional gemstones.

The collection includes pistachio-based green kaju katli inspired by emerald, saffron-flavoured yellow kaju katli representing yellow sapphire, rose-flavoured sweets inspired by coral and strawberry-flavoured ones representing ruby.

Other varieties include classic, rose and mango kaju katli, as well as matcha and other flavours. The products use natural colours and flavours, without artificial colours, Jain said.
