Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 4 (PTI) Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Wednesday said a businessman who allegedly wore Meta AI smart glasses during a meeting with his Karnataka counterpart D K Shivakumar had also met him wearing the same device.
Responding to a question at a press conference about the Karnataka government's probe into alleged attempts to conduct sting operations targeting the two chief ministers, Satheesan said he had received photographs of the meeting.
"Yes, he had met me. I have also been sent photographs of the meeting. Since an investigation is underway, I do not want to disclose the details," he said.
Satheesan also raised questions about the businessman wearing smart glasses during his meetings with the two Congress Chief Ministers but apparently not during meetings with BJP leaders and other ministers.
"I did not understand why he was wearing those glasses. Was it only when he met D K Shivakumar and me that he wore those glasses? When he met BJP leaders and other ministers, it appeared that he was not wearing them. There are two different photographs showing this difference," he said.
"Anyway, let the investigation proceed," he said.
Satheesan also ruled out a separate probe by the Keralam government, saying the matter was already being investigated by the Karnataka Police.
Shivakumar had recently expressed suspicion that a businessman wearing Meta AI smart glasses had attempted to record or spy on him during a meeting.
The businessman had sought an appointment with the Karnataka Chief Minister to discuss business matters. However, instead of discussing his company, he reportedly spoke about politics and electoral strategies, including booth-level calculations.
Shivakumar said the visitor had opened his laptop and spoke like a psephologist. He became suspicious after noticing the man's face and glasses and ordered an inquiry into his identity and background.
Without naming the businessman, Shivakumar had claimed that he wore Meta smart glasses while meeting him and Satheesan but did not wear them when meeting Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, a Union Minister and other ministers.
Shivakumar had also alleged that there were attempts to conduct sting operations targeting some of his Cabinet colleagues.
