Kolkata, Oct 29 (PTI) Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday called for a united opposition campaign against alleged electoral irregularities.
Banerjee alleged that "vote chori" had taken place in West Bengal and other states, urging students, youth, women, workers and civil society members to join the opposition parties in the fight and attend the INDIA bloc's rally in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1.
"The fight against Vote Chori is a fight to protect every Indian's right to choose. The Vote Loot in Bengal and across other states demand answers, not silence!" she said in a social media post.
Raising concerns over the electoral process, Banerjee claimed that EVMs were under scrutiny, voter data was "under question", electoral rolls "under suspicion", and counting "under challenge.
"When the vote is under threat, silence is not an option. Let us stand together to defend our democracy and save our Constitution," she added.
The rally, scheduled to begin at 12.30 pm, is expected to bring together leaders and supporters of the opposition INDIA bloc.
