Itanagar, Oct 29 (PTI) Movement of two-wheelers has been restricted on a stretch of the Roing-Anini road passing through Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary in Arunachal Pradesh following a tiger sighting, officials said on Thursday.

In a public advisory, Deputy Conservator of Forests of the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary Division Mito Rumi said two-wheelers would be allowed on the stretch between Tiwarigaon and Mayudia Pass only between 7 am and 4 pm daily.

The restriction came into immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders, the advisory said.

The decision follows a tiger sighting reported on October 14 and has been taken in view of the potential threat to human safety, it added.

The Forest Department has urged residents, tourists and other road users to avoid entering adjoining forest areas for trekking or collecting minor forest produce. People have also been advised against venturing out alone at night.

Travellers have been asked to remain inside their vehicles, keep windows closed and avoid stopping, picnicking, sightseeing or loitering along the affected stretch.

In case of a fresh tiger sighting, the public has been asked to contact the Range Forest Officer of the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary Division at 7085459372 or 9436221862.
