Mumbai, Jun 21 (PTI) Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday evening met MPs and state legislators of his party over dinner at a hotel in suburban Mumbai.
The meeting assumes significance as several local-level leaders of the party have joined the rival Shiv Sena headed by Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the last few weeks.
It also came ahead of civic polls in Mumbai and elsewhere, and amid speculation about a possible tie-up between the Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray's estranged cousin Raj Thackeray.
Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Mumbai South Central MP Anil Desai told PTI that all MPs and MLAs of the party were present.
The party has nine Lok Sabha MPs and 20 MLAs, besides two Rajya Sabha members and seven Members of Legislative Councils (MLCs) in Maharashtra.
The legislators discussed the BJP-led government's failure to implement loan waiver for farmers and the difficulties they are facing in getting credit and crop insurance, he said.
Discussions also touched on the NDA government at the Centre not allowing the opposition to raise important issues in Parliament, Desai added.
"We supported the government on Operation Sindoor. But the terrorists who gunned down innocent tourists in Pahalgam are yet to be found. If the Opposition is taken on board for Operation Sindoor (for presenting India's stand in foreign countries), why it is not allowed to speak on other issues? The inclusiveness is not seen when it comes to other pressing issues before the country," he said.
