Ghaziabad (UP), Jun 19 (PTI ) A 35-year-old man was shot dead outside a police station at Muradnagar in Ghaziabad district when he was going there to lodge a complaint, officials said.
Muradnagar SHO Shailendra Singh Tomar and sub-inspectors Subey Singh and Mohit Singh were suspended for negligence after the incident, they said.
The incident took place around 11.30 am when Ravi Sharma, the victim, and his father Ravinder Sharma reached the Muradnagar police station to lodge a complaint, police said.
Two bike-borne assailants, identified as Monty and Ajay, fired at Ravi and fled the scene. Ravi was rushed to a hospital in Modinagar where doctors declared him dead, police said.
The family members of the deceased later staged a sit-in with the body outside the police station.
The shooters belong to Milak Rawli village, where the Sharma family lives.
According to police, Ravi was talking to someone on the road next to his car on Wednesday night when the accused reached there and asked him to remove his vehicle, leading to a heated argument.
The accused later fired indiscriminately at Ravi’s house and threatened to eliminate the family, police said.
