Los Angeles, Nov 7 (PTI) Actor Adam Driver explained his choice to essay the role of Mister Sinister in the “X-Men" film despite turning down several Marvel films over the years and said it felt like the "right time".
The actor said he has always been a fan of "X-Men". "I was a big fan (of ‘X-Men). I mean, I was a fan of the other things too, but this one felt like the right time," he said at the Jimmy Kimmel Live, according to the entertainment news outlet Variety.
"It was really ‘X-Men,’ Jake Schreier, who’s the director, his idea for it, and that it’s Kevin Feige. It all kind of came together. The script is really cool," he added.
The film also features Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Asa Germann as Angel and Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, among others.
It is set to release in 2028 and is directed by Jake Schreier and produced by Kevin Feige under Marvel Studios, with production managed through the UK-based production entity Atlas Hall Productions UK Limited. The distribution of the film is held by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The studio has been assembling the cast for the new "X-Men" movie following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, which brought the film rights to the mutant franchise under Marvel Studios.
The project gained momentum earlier this year when Schreier, best known for directing Marvel's "Thunderbolts", came on board to helm the film.
The "X-Men" franchise was among Fox's most successful Marvel properties, spawning seven mainline films along with the "Wolverine" spin-off films.
