At least six people were killed on Saturday and 15 others—including cops—were injured after a gunman opened fire in the main square near Slawkowska Street, located in Poland's Krakow.
This comes just four days before the country will celebrate its Independence Day on November 11, spreading panic and fuelling conspiracy theories.
The police, however, have rejected claims about multiple shooters and their ethnicities, pointing out that there had been only one shooter at play, who was of Polish origin.
After randomly firing at people in the main square, the perpetrator was then shot by police officers and detained near the intersection of the Dietla and Stradomska streets.
“The man had no identification documents with him. The police were able to establish his identity through operational work," the police said, as per news outlet Onet.
Malopolska region police told news outlet tvn24 that the Krakow shooter, who is currently lying injured in hospital, had worn “military style” clothing and had used “military type firearms” during the incident. More weapons had been recovered from his car.
