Dubai-based Influencer Anunay Sood, whose body was found in a hotel room in Las Vegas, USA, may have died of a drug overdose, Las Vegas police say.
Initial reports of the cause of the influencer's death were unclear. However, the report by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says that the narcotics may have played a role in his death, LA-based portal 8newsNow reported.
According to the report, Sood, 32, was accompanied by two women. One of them was identified as his fiancée Shivani Parihar. The group met a man at around 4 am on the morning of he incident to purchase what they believed to be cocaine.
The trio later returned to their room and snorted the white substance using a $100 bill before falling asleep.
The women woke up around 5 am and discovered that Sood was unresponsive.
Las vegas Police who arrived on the scene recovered a small bag containing a white substance. However, the officers have not yet confirmed the cause of death, stating that a toxicology result is necessary to determine whether the substances played a role in his death.
Sood's family and friends confirmed his death on Instagram last week and requested privacy and urged fans not to visit the family home.
The Clarck County Coroner’s office has listed the cause and manner of death as pending.
Anunay Sood was featured on the forbes India’s Top 100 Digital Stars list for three consecutive years. He had about 1.5 million followers on Instagram and regularly posted travel content. He also had a Dubai-based digital performance and marketing agency. Sood had already visited 46 countries and had a goal of travelling to all 195.
