The widow of slain conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has  opened up about life after the murder of her husband and the brutal video that showed his assassination. Erika also discussed how she had brought up wearing a bulletproof vest to her husband, who dismissed the idea.

In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Erika Kirk also revealed she has never watched the assassination video, which went viral after the incident. “I never saw the video, I never will see it," she revealed, adding that she doesn’t want her kids to watch them either.

"I never want to see it. There are certain things you see in your life that you can never  unsee. There are certain things you see in your life that mark your soul forever. I don't want my husband's public assassination to be something I ever see. I don't want my kids to ever see that," she added.

Calling the assassination a “brutal nightmare”, Erika said how the bullet killed him instantaneously. “He died on the scene. But I'm so glad he didn't suffer, I'm so glad he  didn't suffer. No one deserves to suffer, but a handful of people. He literally blinked and probably thought he was raptured and looked around and was like, where's everybody else? He blinked, and he was with the Lord," Erika told Fox News.

She also recalled having a conversation about wearing a bulletproof vest with her husband. Her suggestion was dismissed by Charlie, who believed that it would be useless. “He would nod to that and be like, you know, I've looked into it, but he would always say, 'if they're going to get me, they're gonna get me.' He wasn't afraid. It wouldn't have mattered anyway if you wore a vest," she added.

On whether she would seek the death penalty for Tyler Robinson, who murdered Charlie Kirk, Erika said she “did not want his blood on her ledger”.

“I do not want this man’s blood on my ledger when I stand before the Lord,” she said. “I want the government to decide. It’s Biblical too. Justice will ultimately be served.”

She also dismissed conspiracy theories and misinformation related to her husband’s death. “Everyone,” she said, “is trying to figure out — and I don’t blame them — how does this happen? How does somebody become so radicalised that they can justify this in their own head?”

However, Erika said she has seen the evidence and does not believe in the various theories she’s seen being shared. “I trust our team,” she added.
