The suspect in Minneapolis school shooting has killed himself after killing at least two people and injuring 20 others on Wednesday. The City of Minneapolis said there is no active threat to the community as the "shooter is contained".
The incident occurred at Annunciation Catholic school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, catering to students from preschool to eighth grade. The students had just returned from their summer break on August 25. The school, which is linked to Annunciation Catholic Church, is located in a residential area in southeastern Minneapolis.
"I'm praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence," Minnesota Governor Tim Walz posted on X.

Police chief Brian O'Hara said the gunman died from self-inflicted gunshot wound, saying the gunman was in his "early-20s" and acted alone. "Our hearts are broken for the families who have lost their children," he added.
Police are looking through information left behind to ascertain the motive. A vehicle believed to be used by the gunman was found in the church car park.

President Donald Trump said he was briefed about the shooting. "The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi said federal agents have reached the spot. "My prayers are with everyone involved in this tragedy," she posted on X. "Our team will provide updates as we receive them."
Minneapolis has witnessed multiple shootings in the last 24 hours. In one shooting outside another high school in the city, one person was killed and six others were wounded on Tuesday afternoon. A few hours later, two people were fatally shot in two separate incidents in the city.
