An Indian citizen who has been working as a trucker in Florida has allegedly killed three people after he made a wrong U-turn on a Florida highway.
The deadly accident occurred around 3 pm on August 14 when the truck driver, identified as Harjinder Singh, attempted a U-turn by crossing the median via an "Official Use Only" pass on the Florida Turnpike near Fort Pierce. With the truck blocking the oncoming vehicles, a van ended up ramming the truck. Wedged under the truck, two passengers in the van died on the spot while the driver succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

A video showed that Harjinder was unaffected by the fatal collision as he is seen calmly parking the vehicle and turning the engine off. He is facing three counts of vehicular homicide.
Who is Harjinder Singh?
Harjinder Singh, who illegally entered the US from Mexico in September 2018, was almost deported by the first Trump administration. The man was caught by the US anti-immigration authorities in California and was processed for fast-track deportation, according to sources quoted by New York Post. However, he told the US Citizenship and Immigration Services that he was afraid of being sent back to India.
On January 19, he was released on a $5,000 bond and has been kept under immigration proceedings till his latest arrest. Later, Harjinder obtained a Commercial Driver's License in California.
Responding to the deadly crash, Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) Director Dave Kerner said, "The actions taken by the Defendant while operating a commercial tractor-trailer are both shocking and criminal. Three people lost their lives as a result of his recklessness, and countless friends and family members will experience the pain of their loss forever."
