Royal Thai Police personnel on the scene confirmed that the shooter was a Thai citizen who held a grudge against the market's security staff.
Or Tor Kor Market is situated in Bangkok’s Bang Sue district and is a popular fruit and food destination. The shooting happened at 12.31 pm local time, the Royal Thai Police said, before the perpetrator took his own life.
The gunman was found dead on a bench inside the market building, local media reports said. According to news reports, a probe team recovered an ID card and a driving licence identifying the deceased as Noi Praidaen, a 61-year-old man from Khong district, Nakhon Ratchasima.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the man, wearing a backpack front-facing, walking through a narrow car park as his victims lay motionless behind him. He donned a black T-shirt, military camouflage shorts and a white cap.
Investigators ruled out the incident having any connection to the ongoing Cambodia-Thailand border tensions, multiple media reports said.
Mass shooting incidents are not common in Thailand, but the country has seen several deadly incidents in recent years. In 2023, a 14-year-old boy killed two people and injured five others in a shooting at a luxury shopping mall in the centre of Bangkok.
