Emraan Hashmi is following up the success of 'Awarapan 2' with a very different outing. The teaser of his upcoming action drama "Gunmaaster G9" was released digitally on August 25, offering a nearly 90-second glimpse of the actor as a man caught between love, violence and the underworld. The teaser will also be screened in theatres alongside Yash’s “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups”.
Directed by Aditya Datt, who previously helmed 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne', the film also stars Genelia Deshmukh in the lead role. While the teaser keeps much of the plot under wraps, it hints at a world involving mafia, armed men and a romance that appears to take a violent turn.
Emraan Hashmi enters a world of love and violence
The teaser introduces Emraan as a man who appears willing to cross every boundary to reach the woman he loves. His character combines romance with a fierce determination, setting up what promises to be an emotionally charged action entertainer.
The teaser presents Emraan in a powerful avatar, balancing his romantic side with explosive action sequences. A striking voiceover has his character praying to Lord Shiva that his life should not end before he reaches the woman he loves.
The dialogue establishes his character's central motivation and hints at the lengths he is prepared to go to for love.
Alongside the action, the teaser also offers glimpses of Genelia D'Souza, suggesting that the romantic track will remain an important part of the narrative.
The film also features Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Singh, Snehil Mehra and Inayat Verma, among others. It is produced by Deepak Mukut and Sangeeta Ahir.
The project also brings together Hashmi, Datt and composer Himesh Reshammiya nearly two decades after ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ and ‘Dil Diya Hai’. The collaboration brings a distinct 2000s nostalgia to the film, with Reshammiya also lending his voice to the music. The teaser briefly features the popular track 'Afsana'.
A new chapter after 'Awarapan 2'
“Gunmaaster G9” arrives at an interesting point in Hashmi’s career. “Awarapan 2” has earned ₹200 crore globally in 12 days, giving the actor a major hit after a long wait. The original “Awarapan”, released in 2007, had failed at the box office. Before “Awarapan 2”, Hashmi appeared in “Haq”, which also earned critical acclaim.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres on November 27. It will face a box-office clash with Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari’s family romance “Yeh Prem Mol Liya”.
