Ahead of launching the ground attack, Israel defence minister Yoav Gallant has told Israeli troops that they will soon see the Palestinian territoty "from the inside".
"You see Gaza now from a distance, you will soon see it from inside. The command will come," said Gallant.
Amid the rising tensions, Germany's foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock is on her way to the Middle East for the second time since the Hamas attack on October 7. United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited Israel on Thursday and extended his support to the nation.
Baerbock is also set to visit Jordan and Lebanon. Last week, Germans visited Israel and Egypt. Baerbock accused Hamas militant group for using civilian population of the Gaza as 'human shields'. “It is important to me to make clear to Palestinians that we also recognise their suffering,” she said.
While Jordan’s foreign minister on Thursday said that the country fears the worst yet to come in Gaza war with no signs of de-escalation. In remarks at a press conference with his German counterpart, Ayman Safadi said the war would have "catastrophic repercussions" and urged "protecting the region from the danger of its expansion".
Meanwhile, even as diplomatic efforts to end the war is continuing Israel's relentless airstrikes are ongoing in Gaza. Amid scare of a public health crisis, people are struggling to meet their ends due to lack of water.
The Gaza Health Ministry said that over 3,700 Palestinians have been killed and around 12,000 were injured in the ongoing attacks.
According to Israeli military spokesperson, around 206 people are believed to be captured by Hamas and taken to Gaza.
Medical supplies ready for delivery to Gaza
The World Health Organisation (WHO) said that around five truckloads of medical supplies are ready at the Egypt's border crossing. Once the crossing opens on Friday, the supplies could be delivered to the hospitals and medical centres.
Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Thursday that WHO was working with Egypt and Palestine Red Crescent Societies, and that our trucks are loaded and ready to go through the Rafah crossing from Egypt.
