The Israeli Defence Forces' (IDF) Shayetet (Flotilla) 13 unit displayed extraordinary bravery and rescued approximately 250 hostages, eliminated over 60 militants and apprehended 26, including Muhammad Abu A'ali, the Deputy Commander of the Hamas Southern Naval Division. pales

The IDF shared the video on X. The video was obtained from body cameras worn by members of the unit. The elite unit was deployed on October 7 to the area surrounding the Gaza security fence in a joint effort to regain control of the Sufa military post.

Since Hamas, the terrorist outfit launched an attack on Israel, the conflict has escalated as it enters day seven. The Israeli Air Force has intensified its counter-offensive against Hamas. Fighter jets have executed attacks on Hamas operatives and obliterated their military posts. They have also taken down a Hamas monitoring centre.

The elite unit operated at numerous crucial points including Kibbutz Be'eri, Sufa Outpost, Kfar Aza, Sa'ad, Mefalsim and Nir Oz. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a 'state of war'. Indian Prime Minister has voiced its support towards Israel and French President Emmanuel Macron recently said that France will 'do everything' to release hostages in Gaza. The US too, has declared support for Israel and mobilised warships closer to the nation on the Mediterranean Sea.

The increasing number of civilian casualties on both sides is a concern, with the impact extending beyond the conflict zone and affecting areas like the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The IDF has urged Palestinians from northern Gaza to relocate to southern Gaza in 24 hours, hinting at a potential ground invasion.

The spokesperson for the UN Secretary General António GuterresStephane Dujarric has said that more than 338,000 Palestinians have been displaced due to the conflict. The enduring nature of the conflict calls for a need to work towards a sustainable and lasting peace in the region.
