Moscow airport briefly shut as Ukraine drone attack damages two buildings

Two buildings in Moscow were damaged in the latest drone attack. Russia's defence ministry said that “in an attempted terrorist attack” Russian forces have intercepted three Ukrainian drones over the city of Moscow.

The drones smashed into the two office buildings causing damages. However the authorities said that there are no casualties. Several windows have been damaged at the corner of the building.

Meanwhile, the drone attack on the Russian capital forced the closure of the airport in the city briefly, said Moscow city mayor  Sergei Sobyanin. Moscow has held Kyiv responsible for the attack.

“The Kyiv regime's attempted terrorist attack with unmanned aerial vehicles on objects in the city of Moscow was thwarted,” the Russian defence ministry said on Telegram.

"Tonight there was a Ukrainian drone attack. The facades of two office buildings in the Moscow City were slightly damaged. There are no casualties," Russia's TASS news agency reported.

Later it was reported that one person has been injured in the attack. 

Moscow's Vnukovo Airport was closed for departures and arrivals, it said.

Reportedly, the operations resumed as normal after an hour the operations.

Earlier also drone attacks were launched by Ukraine. Such attacks “would not be possible without the help provided to the Kyiv regime by the United States and its NATO allies,” said Russia's foreign ministry.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities said that at least one civilian was killed and five others wounded in a Russian missile attack on the northeastern city of Sumy.

"On the evening of July 29, an enemy missile hot an educational institution. Law enforcement officers are working at the scene, recording the effects," the national police forces said on Telegram. 

Earlier it was claimed that Ukraine used two drones to attack the Kremlin. However, Ukraine denied the attacks. Russia also alleged that Ukraine had carried an overnight drone attack on Crimea. According to Tass new agency reports, 16 drones were destroyed.
