After getting arraigned on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump hit out at President Biden and accused him of orchestrating the charges against him. Trump said the indictment was "corrupt" and a "political pursuit" designed to destroy him.
Calling the charges against him the "most evil and heinous abuse in the history of our country", Trump vowed to appoint a "real special prosecutor" to go after the Biden family.
"Biden will forever be remembered as not only the most corrupt president in the history of our country, but perhaps even more importantly, the president who together with a band of his closest thugs, misfits and Marxists tried to destroy American democracy," Trump charged while addressing his supporters his club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
His supporters cheered on him as he took the stage as "God Bless the USA" blared from loudspeakers. People dressed in Red and MAGA gear also wished him "happy birthday."
"Today we witnessed the most evil and heinous abuse of power in the history of this country," were Trump's first words. "A corrupt sitting president had his top political opponent arrested on fake and fabricated charges in which he and other presidents would've been guilty of — right in the middle of a presidential campaign in which he was losing badly."
He said the federal charges against him were fake and fabricated and stated he will win. Trump also took a dig at the Espionage Act and repeated his claim that the documents recovered were not classified.
"Hillary Clinton took hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of furniture, china, flatware, rugs and more from the White House, and she wasn’t prosecuted," Trump complained. "How about if Trump did that? Do you think Trump would have a little problem?"
He also didnt spare Special Counsel Jack Smith, calling him a "lunatic" and a "thug." "This is called election interference, yet another attempt to rig and steal a presidential election. More importantly, it’s a political persecution like something straight out of a fascist or communist nation. This day will go down in infamy," he alleged.
"Many people have asked me why I had these boxes, why did you want them? The answer, in addition to having every right under the Presidential Records Act, is that these boxes were containing all types of personal belongings many, many things shirts and shoes and everything clothing, memorabilia and much much more," Trump said.
"I hadn't had a chance to go through all the boxes. It's a long tedious job takes a long time, which I was prepared to do, but I have a very busy life."
Trump also accused that Biden's handling of classified records, some of which were stashed in his Wilmington garage, was worse.
"Classified documents were strewn all over his garage floor where his now-famous Corvette is stored. He's so proud of that car. There was no security and the door was left open most of the time," he said.
Trump also alleged that the Biden administration indicted him in a historical first to distract from corruption allegations linked to the first family's foreign business dealings. "(It's" no coincidence that these charges against me came down the very same day evidence revealed Joe Biden took a USD 5 million bribe from Ukraine," Trump said.
