Britain's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Sunday a new law would be framed to check illegal migration to the UK on small boats. Sunak asserted that those arriving in small boats would not be allowed to stay in the country.

The Guardian reported that the new legislation would be called an illegal migration bill and it would make asylum claims of those arriving to the country on small boats inadmissible. "Make no mistake, if you come here illegally, you will not be able to stay," Sunak was quoted saying to The Mail. Sunak said stopping the arrival of migrants on small boats to the UK was one of his top priorities.

The Guardian reported that the law would involve a duty being placed on the home secretary to remove “as soon as reasonably practicable”, to Rwanda or a “safe third country”, anyone who arrives on a small boat. Those who arrive will also be prevented from claiming asylum while in the UK, with plans to also ban them from returning once removed, The Guardian reported.

“Illegal migration is not fair on British taxpayers, it is not fair on those who come here legally and it is not right that criminal gangs should be allowed to continue their immoral trade. I am determined to deliver on my promise to stop the boats. So make no mistake, if you come here illegally, you will not be able to stay,” Sunak was quoted saying by The Guardian.
