Republicans seem closer to getting the 218 seats they need to keep the House. As of late Saturday, CBS News estimated Republicans will win at least 214 seats, while Democrats are estimated to win at least 210 seats.

In Washington state's 3rd district, it looks like Democrats would flip the narrative in favour of Democrats-- a seat the Republicans were favoured to hold. Officials are still counting votes a week after Americans voted in the midterm elections. The Democrats, however, look set to retain the Senate.

11 races are yet to be called, of which five are expected to be tight battles. If Democrats hope to gain control of the House, they should win at least eight of the remaining 11 seats. One high-profile uncalled race includes the Arizona governor contest, in which Republican Kari Lake, was trailing her Democratic opponent. Lake had promoted former president Trump's baseless 2020 election fraud claims.

Out of nine of California's uncalled races, three of them are leaning Republican. If the Republican candidates hold their leads, It could help them get to the edge of cinching a majority. But for Democrats to retain a majority in the House, they would need to win the same three seats.

Another tight race is Colorado's 3rd District, where Republican Lauren Boebert is in the lead. If the House is won by the Republicans, it would set the stage for a divided government for two years. It would give Biden's opponents the power to limit his political agenda.

Jim Banks, a Republican congressman from Indiana said, he expects his party to win a slim majority in the 435-seat chamber, Reuters reported.

The results so far have brought Trump under scrutiny as several candidates endorsed by Trump aren't doing well in the races. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, won a House seat in the state of Oregon.
