The Opposition in the UK has resumed calls for an immediate general election in the country following Liz Truss's resignation as Prime Minister within six weeks in office.

Labour party leader Keir Starmer said, “After 12 years of Tory failure, the British people deserve so much better than this revolving door of chaos. “ In a statement published on Twitter, Starmer said, “Tories have set record-high taxation, trashed our institutions and created a cost-of-living crisis.” He added that it will take years to fix the damage done by Conservatives.

Starmer charged, “They do not have a mandate to put the country through yet another experiment; Britain is not their personal fiefdom to run how they wish.” He added that the British public must have a chance to compare the Tories' chaos with Labour Party's plans to sort out the mess.

UK Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation as leader of the Conservative party within six weeks of assuming office. Truss had to replace two key ministers during her short tenure leading to increasing calls from within her party calling for her resignation.
