The NFT (non-fungible token) of Nelson Mandela's 60-year-old arrest warrant was sold for a whopping $130,000 recently. The auction took place on a London-based online store for digital art, Momint. The proceeds will go to a heritage site, which was the base of operations for some anti-apartheid campaigners in the 1960s, Liliesleaf.

The money will help “museum sites stay afloat,” Ahren Posthumus, Momint’s CEO, told Bloomberg. Last year the NFT of a pen gun of a fellow freedom fighter was sold for $50,000. Mandela was arrested in 1962 for conspiracy to overthrow the White-minority government. Mandela spent 27 years in prison. He was released in 1990 and the first multi-racial elections took place in 1994.

The owner of the NFT will be able to access the original document at Liliesleaf Museum.
