It's been two weeks since India won their first-ever World Cup in women's cricket but the celebrations are understandably still on. Felicitations, functions and a lot of partying is on the agenda for the players. Their next assignment was supposed to be against Bangladesh at home but as per latest reports, this has been postponed indefinitely.

Bangladesh were scheduled to play ODIs and T20Is in December but with WPL 2026 scheduled to start from January first week, it would give India's players a very cramped schedule. Especially with the all-format tour of Australia scheduled to begin in February, right after the WPL season.

"Yes, they have informed us that the series is not happening as per discussion but that does not mean it is abandoned. We can say the tour has been postponed and it will be rescheduled," BCB women's wing chairman Abdur Razzak said in a chat with Cricbuzz.

"It cannot be postponed as this is part of Future Tour Program. They want to give their cricketers rest ahead of the WPL."

This is the second India-Bangladesh series to be postponed this year after the India men's side postponed their trip to Bangladesh three months ago. That series is now slated to be held in September 2026. Meanwhile, BCCI and BCB will sit together to decide on the future of this women's series which has three ODIs and as many T20Is.
