WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is set to marry his fiancee Stella Moris, a lawyer, on March 24 in Belmarsh prison in south-east London where he has been lodged since 2019.

According to The Guardian, Moris met the 50-year-old WikiLeaks founder when he was in Ecuadorian embassy in London seeking political asylum. They have two children.

“Obviously we are very excited, even though the circumstances are very restrictive,” Moris has been quoted as saying.

Apart from the bridge and groom, four more people will be allowed at the wedding—two witnesses and two security guards.

She alleged that there has been "unjustified interference" in their wedding plans and said their request for a photographer at the wedding is yet to be granted. "Having a photographer for an hour is not an unreasonable request,” she said, reports The Guardian.

The couple had to wait months to get the permission for the wedding.

Assange is wanted in America over the leak of thousands of classified documents related to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He has been held in Belmarsh prison after he was carried out of the Ecuadorian embassy by police before being arrested for breaching his bail conditions. He had been living in the embassy since 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden to face sex offence allegations, which he has always denied and were eventually dropped.

The US indictment against him claims Assange conspired to crack a scrambled password, known as "hash", to a classified US defence department computer. Assange denies the charge and maintains there is no evidence anyone's safety was put at risk.
