The Duke of Sussex has been offered a job by a Silicon Valley startup, in what will be his first role at a private company since he stepped back from royal duties along with his wife Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry has joined BetterUp, a $1 billion executive coaching firm offers professional coaching, mental health advice and “immersive learning”, as a “Chief Impact Officer”.

Harry said he hoped he would be able to “create impact in people’s lives” and that he would provide “proactive coaching” for personal development, increased awareness and an “all-round better life”.

The job is part of the royal couple’s larger plans to grow independent from Buckingham Palace, and comes after a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey where they alleged harassment and racism from other members of the royal family that made them want to leave.

Harry and Meghan also have multimillion-dollar deals with Spotify and Netflix for future content.

The two acquired a 7.4 acre compound in a gated street in Montecito, California for $14.65 million.
