Vice President Mike Pence told President Donald Trump on Tuesday that he does not hold the power to overturn election results when the Congress meets to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College Victory.  Pence apparently told this to the President during their weekly lunch, CNN reported.

Trump on Tuesday had presented loyalist Pence with the ultimate test, when he said the Vice President could overturn election results, whereas, the vice president’s role in overseeing certification of the Electoral College’s votes is merely ceremonial.

Trump has immense influence over Republican voters and held this as a cudgel against Republicans who refuse to stand with his claims of the fraudulent nature of the November 2020 elections. The incumbent President has attempted several moves to overturn elections results, including numerous lawsuits.

In addition to 140 Republican House members. 13 Senate Republicans have said they plan to object to certain Biden electors.

President-elect Joe Biden on Tuesday slammed Trump for whining and complaining and said he doesn’t know why Trump wants to remain president as he "doesn’t want to do the work."
