President Donald Trump reportedly referred to American service members who died in World War I as ‘losers’ and ‘suckers’ in conversations with his staff, an Atlantic report reads. And that is allegedly the reason he refused to visit the Aisine-Marne American Cemetary in France during his visit in 2018.

The report did not name the staffers who made the allegations, but veterans have been quick to scorn at the President and said it is the “last full measure of his disgrace.” Trump said his helicopter being grounded as a result of bad weather why he cancelled a planned visit to the cemetery, where 2,289 US troops are buried, many of whom died at the bloody Battle of Belleau Wood. Trump also refused reports that said he called the Marines ‘suckers’ and ‘losers’. “This is more made up Fake News given by disgusting & jealous failures in a disgraceful attempt to influence the 2020 election!" he tweeted.

After Trump cancelled the cemetery visit, the French army tweeted an image of a recruit navigating an obstacle in the rain and the tweet read, “There is rain, but it’s okay. We stay motivated.”

The Atlantic said that they spoke with four people who have first-hand experience with the President cancelling the visit to the cemetery.

Trump infamously avoided the draft for the Vietnam War with four education deferments and a fifth deferment for "bone spurs," Trump told the New York Times in 2016.

Democratic political rival Joe Biden commenting on the allegations said, “If the revelations in today's Atlantic article are true, then they are yet another marker of how deeply President Trump and I disagree about the role of the president of the United States.”
