COVID-19: UAE suspends entry to residence visa holders, suspends work permits

The decision to suspend work permits will be in effect until further notice

UAE's news agency, WAM said that entry of valid residence visa holders abroad will be suspended for two weeks starting Thursday due to coronavirus concerns. The decision that is subject to renewal, has been taken to ensure the safety of those affected by the decision.

Those now living in their countries of origin would need to get in touch with diplomatic missions of the UAE at their respective nations to streamline for necessary support for return back to UAE. This applies to those who are currently on vacation too.

Those holding work permits, but are currently outside UAE, will also need to inform their employers along with UAE diplomatic missions to facilitate their return to UAE.

The United Arab Emirates has also decided to suspend issuing all types of work permits starting Thursday. The decision will be in effect until further notice as a precautionary measure against coronavirus spread, state news agency (WAM) reported. These include permits for internal transportation and employment permits for Expo 2020.
