US President Donald Trump has arrived in the UK. His agenda for the week-long journey is mainly ceremonial. After a state visit and an audience with Queen Elizabeth II, he will move on to commemoration ceremonies on both sides of the English Channel, which includes a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery in France on 75th anniversary of D-Day. He will then proceed for his first presidential visit to Ireland.

Trump's visit comes at a time of turmoil for British politics. PM Theresa May will be stepping down on June 7. Trump however, has caused trouble immediately after his landing. He called London Mayor Sadiq Khan a "stone cold loser" in a tweet for criticising Britain's decision to roll out the red carpet for the White House chief.

In an interview just yesterday, he called he Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle nasty, but added that the American princess would do 'excellently'. Markle, an American in 2016, right before Trump got elected had said that she would move to Canada if Trump became president. She had supported his Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton and said that she found Trump to be 'divisive' and 'misogynist'.

Trump's visit will begin with elaborate ceremonies honouring the president. He will then meet May on Wednesday. Queen Elizabeth II will hold a grand welcoming ceremony at Buckingham Palace, then he will move on to a formal tea with Prince Charles and ends with a sumptuous state banquet Monday night.
